HAPPY NEW YEAR - 2016
The end of 2016 finds Bev & I living in our condo in Brandon, where we work on various history - related projects for Municipalities and Heritage Organizations in Western Manitoba. Jonah, who works at Canadian Tire, is in his second year in the condo he bought in 2015.
Geoff lives in Winnipeg - he continues at RBC specializing in Financial Planning.
In our semi-retirement years we find more time than ever for visits and activities with family. Both sides of the family continue their annual summer gatherings. This year Minnedosa was our meeting place. Our out-of-province travel this year was limited to a trip to B.C. where we attended a memorial gathering for Bev's cousin Walter Lobban at Fruitvale, and did some of the usual tourist things.
As usual we spent the spring and fall hiking and making a few work-related trips in Westman. The summer months invloved several weeks at Lake Winnipeg locations in rented cabins.
We spent much of last winter working. We are able to cross-country ski and snowshow across the street from our home - which helps to pass the time and allows for some daily fresh air etc.
Throughout the year there were a few trips to Winnipeg to visit Geoff as well as Donna & Dave, Jerry & Marlene, Tim & Deb. Trips to Gladstone, Arden, Neepawa, were also frequent as Bev has close family in those locations. We also see her sister, Linda (& Ron) often.
We'll try to sum up the year by presenting some representative selections from our on-line diary...
Jonah & Geoff were with us for a few days at Christmas, with Christmas dinner hosted by Cynthia, Wayne, Renna & Sean. Then we will closed out the year with a large gathering of the Storie clan (all siblings and quite a few offspring) at Tim and Deb's on December 29.
