In 1999 we five siblings decided that we would get together for a few days of serious family time once a year.

Regardless of how busy we all are ... regardless of the fact that although many of us live in Manitoba, a few live
some distance away, we decided that this would happen.

We did it partly because we simply like each other.

But we also wanted our children to know their cousins. We wanted to know our nieces and nephews and their kids -  get at least glimpses
of them growing up - to keep track of who they are.

To be sure, that could happen by chance - as we did often gather for important family events - weddings, special
birthdays and anniversaries  etc.

But we wanted to make sure.
