Over the years I've had several musical experiences that didn't fit the definition of a Band, in that they were short-term projects, filling in with a band, or just jamming for fun....

The Cantina Experience

As told elswhere, the Cantina Story is dear to my heart. Over many years there were many jams, but one grouping was quite long-lasting and we even did play a few gigs. But gigs weren't the goal.

Ken, Bill Hillman  and Ken Daniels amd the invisible drummer - John Felguieras

Ken, Doug, Ken, Bill

Although I have no photo of Doug Matthews on stage with us - he was a long - standing member of our informal group.

Ken & Bill - having fun & working hard.

John Felguieras

I chose this photo because it's one of the few I have of me in my "Billy" T-Shirt. The relevance is that the story of Billy is closely tied to the story of the Cantina. To paraphrase Neil, "All of (our) changes were there."

Friends

Don Horbas, Ken, Vera Bjornsson, Val Ford, Cathy Horbas - Perfroming at a convention in Winnipeg.

While we lived in Cypress River our Band Teacher, Don Horbas, invited my participation in backing a vocal trio consisting of his wife Cathy, Val Ford and Vera Bjornsson.

Good Advice

I filled in with Geoff's band, Good Advice, for a few gigs in 2002. Once at Ozzies' in the Osborne Village and once at the Unwinder in Brandon.

The Band With No Name?

Sometime in the late 90's I teamed up with two veteran musicians Ken Sowiak and Hugh Fraser, to play a few pub gigs. My guess is that we each had some time on our hands. I think this was taken at our one and only rehearsal. I recall playing at the Rivers Bar and the Crystal. It was a chance to play bass.

Wild Crocus

Also in the late 80's my old firned Ron Gould, asked me to fill in for a few gigs with Wild Crocus.

The Duff Brothers

When Guns n' Horses broke up there were still a few booking on the table so Dave Laco and I joined forces with veteran Barry Day to play a few gigs as the Duff Brothers. I remember a wedding in Carroll and a bar in Manitou. That might have been it!

Another Band with No Name

While living in Winnipeg in 2002 I replied to an add in the Musician's Web and played a gig at Georgie's. We rehearsed once.

Chunks the Dog

I played a gig with some my Cantina buddies who went under the name Chunks the Dog at the University Pub
