Chapter 4: The Empty Nest : Page 6 /  Pacific Avenue

In Oct of 2005 we moved into a new three bedroom  apartment on Pacific Avenue.

Jonah lived with us while he was between jobs. He started with Zellers in the spring of 2007.

I was still working for the Westman Coalition for Employment Opportunities in the Wheatbelt Offices on Rosser - a short bike ride away.

It was while we were here that I was offered the chance to do contract work for the Historic Places Initiative. The offer came as a surprise - it wasn't something I had even considered - or knew was available.

It started the previous spring when I was offered the chance to write Statements of Significance for Brandon's Designated Heritage Sites. I had received the contract based on my writing and research in Local History and my experience and training as an English teacher, and after completing it, thought I was done.

The contract allowed me to resign from my other job with the Coalition and essentially put me on a new career path.
