We left Brandon on Friday, Sept. 21 and arrived at our hotel in Waikiki (Honolulu, Oahu) about 10 PM.

Sept 21. Winnipeg. 3hr flight to Vancouver. Supper. 6 hrs to Honolulu.

22: Walk to beach. Swim. Lunch at large outdoor food court. Back to beach. Room, rest. Walked through Aloha Street Festival. Supper at Maui Brewing Co. Shopping at ABC etc.

23: Up early. Fetched coffee from nearby McD's. Beach. Rented paddleboards. Lunch at beach. Supper at nearby Italian place....quite good.

24: McD coffee run. Rental car. Dole Plantation for lunch and "Dole Whip". North Shore scenery. Waimea Falls hike and swim. Haleiwa historic town. Swim at Ala Moana Park beach. Supper and beer at Moose McGillicudy's, near our hotel.

25: Road trip part 2.  Seaside Kalanianaole Highway. Scenic overlooks. Halons Blowhole. Sandy Beach Park. Waimanalo Park. Lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings in the seaside city of Kaneohe. Photo of Chinese Hat Island. The most scenic seaside drive We have taken. Lucky to have escaped untouched by a dangerous drive who passes us on the shoulder. A bit later we came upon his truck overturned. That was on the Kahehill Highway near the Hui Iwa Street dip. Turned out he was trying to outrun the police in a stolen truck. He not only survived the crash which was captured on video, but he escaped. We walked to the nearest beach for a sunset swim! then had takeout pizza

26: Morning drive to the Diamond Head Lighthouse and area. Upscale neighbourhood. Beautiful ocean views. Good Breakfast at the nearby Hard RockCafe. Best collection of guitars ever! Returned rental car. It was a good investment. Beach time and drinks at Duke's. Bit of a walk for supper at Cheesburger Waikiki. Downpour as we were finished.

27: Zoo. Walked there and back. Highlights....Komodo Dragon... Small one. Primates. Rhino. Rest, then walk to beach and great meal at La Cucaracha.

28: Bus trip to Bishop Museum. Beautiful building. Fine collection of artifacts. Interesting parallels with the Americas as to the colonial experience. Interesting culture. Bus travelled through downtown Honolulu, Chinatown. Iolani Palace. Mission Houses. Walked to beach. Had ice cream. Watched a great sunset.

29: Took a taxi to Diamond Head. Hiked to the top. Beautiful day for it. Walked to. Beach. Geoff and Bev swam, then we all had agreat lunch at Dukes.
After a bit of a rest we went back to the beach. Great sunset again. Take out pizza from a hole in the wall place. A bit of shopping.

30: Did a bit of shopping and checked out. Walk. Late breakfast at Eggs & Things. Back to the beach. Had a beer in Rivals, a sports bard in the hotel. Shuttle to airport for. A 10:25 flight home via Vancouver
